Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Lhasa

Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or Lhasa Railway Station, you will be met by your local guide and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is kept free for rest and acclimatization, which is important at Lhasa’s altitude of around 3,650 meters. Take it easy, drink plenty of water, and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2 Lhasa Sightseeing

Today, explore the cultural treasures of Lhasa, starting with the Potala Palace, the iconic winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and one of Tibet’s most famous landmarks. Continue to Jokhang Temple, the most sacred temple in Tibetan Buddhism, then walk around Barkhor Street, where pilgrims and local life create a vibrant spiritual atmosphere. This gentle sightseeing day is ideal for acclimatization.

Day 3Monastery explore in Lhasa

After breakfast, visit Sera Monastery, one of the great monastic universities of Tibet. It is especially famous for its debating courtyard, where monks participate in lively philosophical debates using hand gestures and expressive movements. This is a fascinating cultural experience that gives visitors insight into Tibetan Buddhist education and monastic life.

In the afternoon, head to Norbulingka, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lamas and a peaceful retreat with beautiful gardens and traditional architecture. The site offers a quieter atmosphere than the central city attractions and is perfect for those who want to explore more of Lhasa’s royal and religious heritage.

Day 4Lhasa to Shigatse via Yamdrok Lake

After breakfast, depart Lhasa and drive across Kamba La Pass, where you will enjoy your first dramatic view of Yamdrok Lake, one of Tibet’s sacred lakes. The turquoise water, snow peaks, and vast plateau scenery make this one of the most beautiful drives in Tibet. Travel onward to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Along the way, enjoy more open plateau views and a slower pace that helps your body continue adjusting to the altitude.

Day 5Shigatse to Everest Base Camp

Today is one of the most exciting driving days of the tour as you head toward the Everest region. Cross several high passes, including Gyatso La Pass, and enter the Qomolangma National Nature Preserve. As you approach Rongbuk Monastery, the north face of Mount Everest begins to appear, creating one of the most memorable moments of the entire journey.

Spend time taking in the breathtaking views of Mount Everest, capturing photos, and enjoying the incredible atmosphere at the highest part of your journey. If weather and visibility are favorable, sunrise and sunset here are unforgettable.

Day 6Rongbuk to Shigatse or Return Route

Begin the return journey after breakfast, retracing your route through the Tibetan plateau. This day offers another chance to enjoy the mountain scenery, high passes, and open landscapes from a different perspective. Many travelers find the return journey just as beautiful, especially after having reached Everest Base Camp.

Day 7Shigatse to Lhasa

Drive back to Lhasa for your final day of the tour. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for some last-minute shopping at Barkhor Street or a short visit to a local teahouse.

Day 8Departure from Lhasa

You will be transferred to the airport or railway station for your onward journey.
