  • Iconic Tibetan landmarks in Lhasa.
Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival in Lhasa

Upon arrival in Lhasa, your guide will meet you at the airport or railway station and transfer you to your hotel. Since Lhasa sits at a high altitude of about 3,650 meters, the rest of the day is usually kept free for rest and acclimatization. This first day is important for helping your body adjust comfortably before sightseeing begins.

Day 2 Lhasa Sightseeing

Begin your sightseeing with a visit to the Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas and one of Tibet’s most important landmarks. Continue to Jokhang Temple, the holiest temple in Tibetan Buddhism, then explore Barkhor Street, where pilgrims, prayer wheels, shops, and local life create one of the most atmospheric areas in Lhasa.

Day 3Monastery explore in Lhasa

Today is dedicated to Lhasa’s great monasteries. Visit Drepung Monastery, once one of the largest monasteries in the world, and Sera Monastery, famous for its lively monk debates. If your route includes it, Norbulingka, the former summer palace of the Dalai Lama, may also be part of the day’s sightseeing, offering a peaceful contrast to the city’s busier religious sites.

Day 4Lhasa Surroundings or Pilgrimage Sites

Depending on the exact itinerary, this day may include Ganden Monastery, Drak Yerpa, or another scenic and spiritually important site around Lhasa. These areas offer a more tranquil experience and a chance to see the Tibetan landscape beyond the city center.

If your package follows a more classic city-focused route, this day can instead be used for a slower cultural experience, deeper monastery visits, or time for shopping and exploring the old town at a relaxed pace.

Day 5Departure from Lhasa

On your final day, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport or railway station according to your travel schedule. If time allows, you may have a final chance to walk through the old city or buy souvenirs before leaving Tibet. This completes your memorable 5-day Lhasa tour.

Other Important Notes
  • This tour is ideal for travelers who want a short but complete Lhasa experience.
  • Visitors should plan for acclimatization and avoid overexertion on the first day.
  • The best travel seasons are generally spring and autumn, when the weather is clearer and more comfortable.
  • A Tibet Travel Permit is required for all foreign travelers.
